Jayhawk Jake, Midengineer, Murdersofa, and I went autocrossing today. There aren't many photos, but I do have the results outlined for everybody.
My highlighter in Preview was being wonky, so I just boxed all the Oppo times.
In green, because he loves green cars, there's Jayhawk Jake, in his Chevy Aveo.
In red, there's midengineer, in his MR2 Turbo, which is basically a Ferrari, so it has unintended acceleration and fire problems.
In blue, there's me in my Honda S2000, known for holding the highest revving production engine and most hp per liter award for almost a decade. A true great.
In purple, there's Jake and his Murdersofa, made of murder, but removed the sofa before racing.
This was my 3rd Autocross, and I was aiming straight for Midengineer. The competition was very intense, with just .2 seconds in the second round and
.1 FUCKING SECONDS IN THE FIRST ROUND.
The competition got so heated that Midengineers last run ended in a spin taking out the finish cones. For those who don't know, the MR2 Turbo is known for it's oversteer problems.
However, what my last DNF doesn't say, is that in my unrelenting quest to destroy midengineer, I buried my foot through the ending slaloms and proceeded to also take out the finish cones, take out the timer with the side of the car, knock it out into the field, and slide perilously close the electric finish.
I'm okay and the S2000's perfectly fine. Honda's are known for their unyielding reliability.
Here's some shots, courtesy of Murdersofa, post-spin out.
I don't have Go-Pros, but Murdersofa may have some video later, which I'm VERY much looking forward to seeing.
Here's some more shots from the day.
Really nice GT3 RS with an also very nice S2000 in the back.
POV shot from the Honda looking out at Jayhawk Jake's Chevy Spark.
My dad behind me in the SVO and Murdersofa's Murdersofa.

I'm impressed that Jake's lard-ass Buick was faster than a Shelby.

Hate all you want, but you're just saying you got beat handily by a Chevy Spark/Aveo.
I can't believe John beat me by .01 seconds. Insanely close.

I'll just chuck it up to the tune. That way I'll sleep better.
You got Allex though, which is saying a lot racing between an Aveo and a Boxster. You just need to get your Corvette already.

Well it's a kit car with a 5.0.
Too bad he was just idling it around the track like a Sunday stroll. I've driven the thing, I know it's fast. I'm not sure what the Cobra was doing.
Jake did really well though considered what the Buick is. A Buick.

Your pops beat him in round one, but was slower than him round 2. Something happen to the SVO?

Nah, my dad's just not that competitive.
The car itself is just a bit touchy. If I break a part on the Honda, I go order a new one. If something breaks on the SVO, you're pretty much done. There just aren't parts. They don't make them. We've got like 3 parts cars out behind the shop.

If I hadn't needed to be in OKC this afternoon... I've got to head out there in the brick, once it's suspension is sorted. The Murdersofa needs some big car competition.
